Red, a.k.a. Elaine Wright, is an early baby boomer who lives in Sunset Beach, NC. She was given the nickname Red more than 30 years ago by her late husband Sam due to her fondness for coloring her hair – always some vibrant shade of auburn. Through the years, Red's life has been as spirited as her nickname would suggest, leading her down many paths. Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, she has also lived in Roswell & Marietta, GA and Newport News & Richmond, VA, before moving permanently to Sunset Beach where she and her family have vacationed for years.

Geography isn't the only source of variety in this rich life. Red has filled a number of roles as well, from wife and mother to long-time office manager for the highly regarded Carolina Gardener magazine. She is currently an active participant in the local POA and is in the planning stages of a venture to raise awareness of the need for organ donation. Through it all, Red has maintained a lifelong enjoyment of the creative arts, including hand-painted ceramics, needlework, fiber arts, beading and jewelry making, and pottery. This website represents only a sample of what she does.

Passing her love of the creative arts along to the next generation, Red has two grown daughters (whom she affectionately calls her greatest works of art) and five grandchildren. Samantha lives with her husband Andy, a Naval Officer, US ROTC instructor, and instructor of Naval Science at the University of Michigan. Samantha is an Animal Nutrition Specialist pursuing advanced study in the field and is herself an artist specializing in painting, graphic design, and fiber arts. She also teaches clogging through the local rec/ed department. Together, she and Andy are the parents of Red's two adored grandsons Jared and Samuel. Stephanie is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Coastal Carolina University and enjoys writing, fiber arts, and ceramics. She is the mother of Red's three beloved granddaughters Carson, Elanor, and Zelda.
